Andrew has over 35 years’ experience in construction, design and development of commercial buildings, civil engineering and infrastructure. He commenced in civil engineering design for an international consulting group and moved to construction and then project management. His design postings took him from Canberra to PNG, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, UK and Hong Kong. His construction experience started in civil engineering contracting in Qld followed by commercial building and then project management and director roles including development. He was a branch manager for a national builder before setting up his own construction company operating in regional locations as well as Brisbane. After merging with another building firm in Brisbane Andrew oversaw the combined commercial activity including traditional delivery, design+construct and managing contractor. He has a strong knowledge of construction contracts and procedures. He delivered several projects with development management and some with own equity participation, making decisions about the form and direction of these developments. He has more than 10 years’ experience as a director of construction companies.
Andrew’s experience extends across procurement strategy, prequalifications, traditional lump sum tendering, construction management, two part design+construction delivery, managing contractor, PPP, budget/bonus schemes and management of equity stakeholders. He also has experience at managing stakeholders in complex projects particularly hospital, education, airports and emergency services.
Andrew has been a speaker presenting construction law seminars, and on the Advisory Board for the MBA at the Business Faculty at QUT.
Andrew has been on wine industry committees both for the Qld Wine Industry as well as the national industry. He is also a well-known speaker on wine for functions and on radio and has contributed columns on wine to a range of magazines for many years.

Northbuild has its head office in Brisbane and branches in Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast and PNG. The company constructs a wide variety of commercial building projects including schools, hospitals, multi-residential, specialized industrial, aged care and retail.
Andrew oversaw tendering, negotiation of contracts, project progress, finalisation of contracts including settlements with key subcontractors, dispute resolution and aspects of business development.
Andrew merged his building company with Northbuild in 2003. The respective turnovers at the time were $18 M and $40 M and by 2005 Northbuild’s turnover had grown to $100 M. Andrew was a key contributor. Northbuild gained certification for Quality Assurance, Environmental Management and Federal Safety. In house systems are sophisticated and include programming, Cost-X measurement and estimating and intranet for IT management.

Fiorelli was a family owned trading business with property development, liquor wholesaling, retail, restaurant, delicatessens, charter boat, fitness centre and other businesses. Annual liquor sales were approx $15m. Initially involved in property matters – relocation to leased warehouse of liquor storage/wholesale/retail and refurbishment of owned city building into shopping arcade, and expanded to the management of liquor operations including reforms of systems and credit control. Andrew gained an intensive knowledge smaller commercial property including tenancy agreements and liquor commerce.
